Burt, Sir John Mowlem, Kt.

Is a keen yachtsman, and owner of the s.y. Gladys, 178 tons, built by Messrs. J. Reid and Co. at Glasgow in 1883. He was born in 1845, being the son of the late Mr. George Burt, Sheriff of the City of London. He entered the firm of John Mowlem and Co. in 1862, and in 1875 became a partner. Ten years later he became senior partner. He is a Lieutenant of the City of London.
