11 August 2018West Kent (Q.O.) Imperial Yeomanry. Was born in 1863, being the eldest son of Lord Brassey, owner of Sunbeam. It is not surprising, therefore, to find Major Brassey a keen and practical yachtsman, and an authority on naval matters. Having been educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford, he entered politics, at the same time studying naval questions. He became Assistant Private Secretary to Earl Spencer when First Lord of the Admiralty, and was from 1890 to 1904 editor of the Naval Annual.
